North Salem, New York – May 13, 2022 – Many Welcome Stake riders also competed in Friday morning’s $25,000 National 1.40-1.45m Jumper Classic, where only 12 of 33 entries jumped off for top honors. Pessoa returned with Artemis Equestrian LLC’s Venice Beach, the 13-year-old Hanoverian mare who won Wednesday’s Open Jumper 1.40m, to claim the victory with a double-clear time of 34.850 seconds.  

“I thought it was a great class,” Pessoa (BRA) said. “It was a nice class for a younger horse like the 8-year-old I rode (Eclat du Cerisier). It was nicely built and just difficult enough to thin out the field and have a nice jump-off. This mare (Venice Beach) is experienced, and I thought it was a good track for her. She took a chance with the turns in the jump-off, and she was really great again today. I’m very happy to have another win for the Artemis farm.”
