Grimaud, France – May 12, 2022 – For the moment, few female riders have managed to add their name to the list of winners of the Grand Prix of the Hubside Jumping Grimaud-Golfe de Saint-Tropez, a circuit of excellence launched in 2019 by the international rider and successful entrepreneur Sadri Fegaier. From tomorrow, the competition will resume in the Haras des Grillons’ ring, with a particularly impressive line-up of female riders. And what if on Sunday, a woman overcame these men and was the winner, following in the footsteps of America’s Jessica Springsteen (USA), the last female rider who was victorious in the Hubside.Store Grand Prix presented by Indexia in June 2021? Free entry.
One thing is already sure: America’s Jessica Springsteen (USA), the last female rider to have won the Hubside.Store Grand Prix presented by Indexia in June 2021, will be unable to ride to victory again in this class. Although she is present this week on the French Riviera, the current Olympic team silver medallist, and daughter of the legendary Boss, has chosen Grimaud and the HubsideJumping to launch her European summer season… but will be taking part in the CSI 2* classes, with in particular two of her leading horses: Tiger Lily and the exceptional RMF Tinkerbell.
In the CSI 3*, her fellow countrywoman and teammate Laura Kraut (USA), the other female rider to have won a Hubside.Store Grand Prix presented by Indexia (in 2019, with Fleurette), is among the favourites to shine on Sunday afternoon on the French Riviera.
Don’t count Gudrun Patteet out either. The Belgian has already won a grand prix and had other top placings at the venue. The Frenchies, led by their gold medallist and the one whose name is on everyone’s lips! As for the French riders, the major delegation of female riders expected in Grimaud on Thursday will be led by the new French Pro Elite category gold medallist, the iconic Pénélope Leprévost (FRA), Olympic gold medallist in Rio with the French team. However, one of the most regular participants in the Hubside Jumping, Mégane Moissonnier (FRA), the rider from Bresse who has ridden in numerous classes in the Haras des Grillons big ring since 2019, and was even a member of France’s Nations Cup team last week, in the prestigious Officiel de France in La Baule will also be competing. For Sadri Fegaier, the founder of the Hubside Jumping, ‘we are delighted for Mégane, a rider from the Rhône-Alpes region of whom we are very fond. We have always given her a chance at the most beautiful shows that we organise in Grimaud and in Drôme, and thanks to her talent and the experience she has acquired at the Hubside Jumping events, the young woman has succeeded in becoming one of the French riders who matter and will continue to do so. The chance given to young people and diversity are important values for the Hubside Jumping and its partners Indexia and Hubside.Store.’
Let’s also note the participation of Marie Demonte (FRA) and the hopeful Jeanne Sadran (FRA), who are among the other French riders to watch this weekend. When it comes to foreign competitors, there are hopes for the female riders too! In addition to the participation of the two American Olympic team silver medallists, the public of the Hubside Jumping Grimaud-Golfe de Saint-Tropez will be spoilt for choice as to which rider to support on Sunday in the Hubside.Store Grand Prix presented by Indexia. Belgium will be represented by the brilliant Gudrun Patteet, Great Britain by the heiress of the Whitaker dynasty, Ellen, and Israel, in the CSI 2*, by the charismatic Dani G. Waldman. Nevertheless, the male riders have not had their final say, with the participation of Switzerland’s Bryan Balsiger and Luxembourg’s Victor Bettendorf, both of whom are regulars at the Hubside Jumping.
So will a male rider be victorious? Or a female rider? All will be revealed on Sunday afternoon in the Haras des Grillons’ ring! Full list of entrants available at online.equipe.com
