Robert Whitaker & Evert Ride for the Win in €35,600 LVM Prize CSI 4* at Hagen

Hagen, Germany – April 23, 2022 – Rarely does a Whitaker come to the tournament alone. At Horses & Dreams meets Canada on Saturday, a member of one the great equestrian clans made a name for himself: Robert Whitaker (GBR), son of the legendary John, 39 years young and winner of the qualification for the first special test of the new Bemer Riders Tour season. With the Dutch gelding Evert, the Brit took two seconds off the following riders and won the LVM Insurance prize in the jump-off.

Girl Power in Second & Third place

Robert Whitaker (GBR) is one of the constant international stars of British show jumping. “I did it as fast as I could,” the show jumper grinned mischievously and his colleagues know that Evert is fast. Nevertheless, nothing was left undone. The German champion of show jumping, Sophie Hinners (GER), who lives in Marburg, finished second in the qualifier for the Bemer Riders Tour with the Holsteiner stallion Million Dollar. The 24-year-old and the stallion are one of the dream couples in German show jumping. Just like Whitaker, Hinners can now watch his colleagues in the special stage of the Bemer Riders Tour on Sunday in peace and quiet, because both start in the last or penultimate position in the Deutsche Kreditbank AG Grand Prix CSI 4*.

A young rider jumped to third place in this first qualifier for the series in the season that just started: Irma Karlsson (SWE) from Sweden was riding her Nations Cup horse Chacconu. The gelding, which the 27-year-old once bought from Tour founder Paul Schockemöhle, is her top horse.

Rider of the Year

Familiar faces lined up behind the top three: The newly crowned “Rider of the Year”, Patrick Stühlmeyer (GER) from Steinfeld/ Mühlen, finished sixth with Conchacco. Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER), who just missed the podium after a furious finish at the final of the Bemer Riders Tour, finished fifth with Chesmu KJ and world champion Simone Blum (GER) – winner of the Bemer Riders Tour leg in Munich 2021 – jumped to eighth place with Diachacco.

The best 50 pairs of this qualification, including the pre-qualified riders, will now start in reverse order on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Deutsche Kreditbank AG Prize. This first special test of the new season in the BEMER Riders Tour will be broadcast live on http://www.clipmyhorse.tv.
