Monaco, Monte Carlo – April 22, 2022 – From 30 June to 2 July, all eyes will be on Port Hercule as it welcomes for the 16th time the Longines Global Champions Tour of Monaco. Accustomed to hosting some of planet’s most prestigious sporting events and indeed just a few weeks after the Formula 1 drivers, the Principality will see the World’s best horses and riders battling against each other. For the impatient, it’s already possible to reserve seats in the grandstand via the booking office.
Since 2006 and the creation of the Longines Global Champions Tour, the Jumping International de Monte-Carlo has become a legendary date on the international calendar, to which the greatest names in the discipline remain faithful. The Monegasque competition, the tenth leg of the 2022 Longines Global Champions Tour, offers one of the most beautiful settings of the season set on the Port Hercule, at the foot of the Prince’s Palace, with luxurious yachts as a backdrop.
For three days, the Principality will come alive to the rhythm of hooves, marvel at the passage of each horse and rider, and vibrate with applause during the rounds of honour and prize-giving ceremonies, the most prestigious and eagerly awaited of which is the CSI5* – Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix du Prince de Monaco, on Saturday the 2nd of July. In 2021, the Ireland’s Darragh Kenny honoured his country by claiming victory with Idalville d’Esprit, at the end of a class hotly contested by the best riders in the World, including the recent winner of the World Cup Final in Leipzig, Switzerland’s Martin Fuchs (N°3 in the World), the Olympic team gold medallist in London, Great Britain’s Scott Brash (N°8), France’s Julien Épaillard (N°12), Simon Delestre and Olivier Robert, winner of two legs of the circuit in 2021 (Madrid and Rome) but also Brazil’s Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (N°6) and Belgium’s Jos Verlooy, Olivier Philippaerts and Pieter Devos.
Integrated since 2016 into the Longines Global Champions Tour, the Global Champions League, a team competition, will be held in two rounds over two days, the first on Thursday the 30th of June and the second on Saturday the 2nd of July. Victorious in 2021, thanks to Egyptian rider Nayel Nassar and Irish rider Darragh Kenny, the Paris Panthers team will be looking to hold onto the top spot.
If the current stars will be the most followed, the newcomers of the discipline will also have their place in the legendary arena. Indeed, throughout the three days of competition, national, amateur and professional level classes are also scheduled, and in particular the Longines Pro-Am Cup, associating a 5* rider with a young talent, during a friendly and festive confrontation.
Between two classes, the Jumping International de Monte-Carlo will give the public the opportunity to discover its exhibitors’ village, which includes several craftsmen and tradesmen from the equestrian world. Food and drink can be enjoyed next to the arena with the port in the background thanks to the reception areas located in the business seating grandstand and the VIP boxes, as well as at “the Comptoir” which has a view over both the main arena and the warm-up ring.
For equestrian sport enthusiasts and lovers of thrilling sport, to experience an exceptional moment in a unique setting, the Longines Global Champions Tour in Monaco will be “THE” place to be from the 30th of June to the 2nd of July!
