Arezzo, Italy – April 17, 2022 – Italian fans were on their yesterday at the Arezzo Equestrian Centre as Nico Lupino (ITA) and Chaccandro paraded victoriously before their countrymen after their triumphant in the €51,900 Grand Prix of Arezzo CSI 3*.
It had been 3 years since the Italian national anthem was played as a result of a grand prix victory there but Nico made sure that the drought came to an end on Sunday, guiding the 2010 bay Oldenburg stallion (Chacco-Blue x Sandro Boy) masterfully over all the 1.50m obstacles in the tiebreaker. The dynamic duo were not the fastest ones in the decisive phase, but the only other combination that were faster had one pole down, handing the win to the Italian.
Having won the feature class the previous day Linnea Ericsson-Carey (DEN) and Skorphults Baloutendro (Contendros 2 x Balou du Rouet) came close to stealing the spotlight again. The Danish rider and the 2011 bay Hannoverian stallion (Contendros 2 x Balou du Rouet) did manage to hold on to silver honors due to their time of 44.51 seconds.
Hasan Senturk (BEL) and Very Good de La Bonn (Berlin x Zandor Z) completed the podium, registering no penalties too, finishing only three-hundredths of a second slower than the latter two.
