Emanuele Gaudiano & Carlotta Earn Another Victory at the Saut Hermès CSI 5* in Paris

Paris, France – March 20, 2022 – This Sunday heralds the final day of competition for the twelfth edition of the Saut Hermès. The CSI 5* riders got the ball rolling with the €25,500 Prix de la Ville de Paris CSI 5*: a class with jumps of 1m50 run in two phases. For a long while the public believed in a French podium made up of Mathieu Billot (FRA), Grégory Cottard (FRA) and Julien Anquetin (FRA). However, they hadn’t reckoned on the formidable Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) and his trusty Carlotta 232, which was the penultimate pairing to grace the arena. Already victorious in Friday morning’s Prix du Grand Palais, the Italian duo pulled off the double today by securing another win against the clock. This is the eighty-second victory on the international circuit for the thirteen-year-old mare!

“Everyone is familiar with Carlotta and knows that once she’s in the ring she’s dangerous for the other riders! She didn’t jump spectacularly well and I didn’t take all the risky moves, but she was very fast. She was only 15 hundredths of a second ahead of the second pairing, but she’s fast so it was enough to win. Carlotta took a break from competition over the winter, after December’s World Cup in London (UK). I’m ecstatic to see what great shape she’s in again this weekend.”

At the top of the leader board for some considerable time, French rider Mathieu Billot, teamed up with H, claimed second place with the excellent time of 29’’71.

Gregory Cottard (FRA) & Cocaine du Val

He finished ahead of his compatriot Grégory Cottard (FRA) on Cocaine du Val, the only horse and rider combination to represent France in the upcoming World Cup final in Leipzig (Germany) in April. Making his Saut Hermès debut, the rider posted a clear round in 30’’73.

In fact, it was a great class for the French contingent as a whole, with another three out of the nine pairings to go clear sporting blue jackets: Julien Anquetin on Z Ice Cube Z were fourth, Julien Gonin (FRA) on Cymba ended up in seventh place and Edward Levy (FRA) on Uno de Cerisy finsihed in eighth place.
