Vejer de La Frontera, Spain – February 20, 2022 – Steve Guerdat (SUI) had a great win in the €95,380 Sunshine Tour Grand Prix CSI 4* here at the 2022 Andalucía Sunshine Tour. He was riding ’Albfuehren’s Maddox’ the bay Swedish Warmblood who is by ‘Cohiba 1198’, dam sire ‘Maraton’. This is not their only big win here, on the 11th of this month they were also the winners of another Longines Ranking class.
Steve Guerdat (SUI), is a very well known and respected rider and voice in the world of showjumping. He is currently ranked 20th in the FEI Longines World Rankings. He has attended five Olympic games and is one of the elite few, who have taken home an individual Olympic gold medal, that was in the London Olympics. His achievements on paper are too long to list here but he is a consummate horseman and we are delighted to say, a regular visitor here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour. He always brings a number of horses to school and start off their seasons on grass and just last week he had another big victory; winning the Small Tour GP with ‘Dynamix de Belheme’.
The jump off today in the 1.55m Ranking GP was tense to the very last minute. Steve was actually the last rider to go out of the seven riders that got through.

Up to that point, another of our regular podium riders, Olivier Perreau (FRA) was in the lead with a very fast round. The time to beat from this French rider and ‘GL Events Venizia d’Aiguilly’ was a mere 38.01 seconds.
With neat turns and great rhythm Steve Guerdat (SUI) stopped the clock in just 37.55s and the large crowd watching were absolutely delighted.
Olivier Perreau and ‘GL Events Venizia D’Aiguilly’ had to make do with a very well deserved second place, repeating their result in the 1.50m, Cervezas Victoria class that was held on the 18th. The mare is by the wonderful stallion ‘Diamant de Semilly’ who sadly passed away recently. Her dam sire is the fabulous ‘Quick Star’.

In third place was the Austrian rider Max Kühner (AUT) who was riding ‘Eic Coriolis des Isles’ (‘Zandor’, ds ‘Tlaloc M’; fourth was the german rider Kendra Claricia Brinkop (GER) with ‘Malissa de Muze’ (‘Vigo D’Arsouilles STX’ ds ‘For Pleasure’ and fifth; was the Swiss rider Alain Jufer (SUI) with Dante MM by ‘Diarado’, ds ‘Luxius’).
