Catherine Tyree Claims Overall Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award

Wellington, Florida – January 03, 2021 – Catherine Tyree (USA) claimed the Overall Martha W. Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award at the conclusion of the five-week Holiday Series held at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL.

Tyree of Wellington, FL, claimed the title during the first week of Holiday Series competition, the Holiday & Horses tournament CSI 4* held from December 1 to 5, 2021.  For the next four weeks, Tyree maintained her position at the top of the leaderboard to ultimately take the Overall Leading Lady Rider title with a total of 139 points.  Jessica Mendoza of Great Britain finished second overall with 136 points while Colombia’s Andrea Torres Guerreiro was third with 130 points.

“Holiday & Horses was good week for myself and my team, and it was nice to keep that consistency over the five weeks,” said Tyree.  “I think that is the ultimate goal when you do this sport.  It’s nice to win here and there but to be able to maintain consistent results with the horses is what it’s all about.  I’m proud that I was able to do that over the past few weeks.”

Tyree opened the Holiday Series by winning the $214,000 Grand Prix on Saturday night, December 4, during the CSI4* Holiday & Horses tournament riding BEC Lorenzo, an 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding (Livello x Guidam).  Tyree (USA) also earned points toward the Overall Leading Lady title with Bokai, a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Up to Date x Olympic Ferro).  Both horses are owned by Catherine Tyree LLC.

In recognition of winning the Overall Leading Lady Rider Award, Jolicoeur presented Tyree (USA) with a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, and a $500 gift certificate for Personalized Products, a company that specializes in custom equine products.

“I’m looking forward to outfitting my team before the winter season starts,” said Tyree, 28.  “It is so gracious of Martha to put up this award for us each week and I’d like to thank her for not only doing a weekly award but for recognizing the overall winner as well.  It’s a really nice way to start the season down here.”

A former competitor herself, Jolicoeur enjoyed a successful international show jumping career before becoming Florida’s number one Douglas Elliman real estate broker.  A sponsor and dedicated supporter of horse sport at the Winter Equestrian Festival for many years, this year Jolicoeur expanded her Leading Lady Rider Award to include the Holiday circuit.  Given in memory of fellow realtor and horseman Dale Lawler, a Leading Lady Rider was named each week with the Overall Holiday Series title being presented to the female athlete who accumulated the most points throughout the five-week circuit.
