La Coruña, Spain – December 10, 2021 – A brilliant performance by Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) and Cezanne propelled the host nation to claim top honors in the €26,000 NH Collection Trophy CSI 5*-W on the opening day of the CSI Casas Novas – A Coruña CSI 5*-W.
The speed challenge featured 54 combinations trying to overcome obstacles set at the height of 1.45 meters on a course designed by Santiago Varela (ESP). Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) and the 10-year-old bay Danish Warmblood stallion blazed through the course flawlessly before tripping the timers in 55.19 seconds.
Julien Anquetin (FRA) and Blood Diamond du Pont (Diamant de Semilly x Arpege Pierreville*HN) were the closest ones, completing their penalty-free performance in 55.64 seconds for silver honors.
Spain conquered two of the three places on the podium as Jesus Garmendia Echevarria (ESP) guided Baby Boy du Murger (Companiero x Casco) towards bronze honors, backed by a clean effort in 56.32 seconds.
