
Madrid, Spain – November 26, 2021 – Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Billabong du Roumois were the best in the €95,000 Ciudad de Madrid Prize CSI 5*-W on Friday during the opening day of the IFEMA Madrid Horse Week. One of the major classes of the event also served as a prelude to Longines Grand Prix of the City of Madrid CSI 5*-W the fifth leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup – Western European League.

A total of six combinations advanced to the jump-off of the 1.55m challenge, with the “Flying Frenchman” and the 10-year-old chestnut Selle Français gelding (Mylord Carthago x Papillon Rouge) reigning supreme above the rest, backed by a penalty-free performance in 34.22 seconds.

It was a close call between the top two combinations as Eduardo Pereira de Menezes (BRA) and H5 Chaganus (Chacco-Blue x Carthago) earned silver honors only eight-hundredths of a second behind the latter two.

The third spot on the podium was claimed by Michael Pender (IRL) and HHS Calais ( Cavalier Royale x Obos Quality 004), registering no penalties 34.95 seconds.
