Trevor Breen Leads Ireland to Victory in Nations Cup CSIO 3* at Vilamoura

Vilamoura, Quarteira, Faro, Portugal – November 21, 2021 – The Nations Cup CSIO 3* was a very special way to end seven weeks of competition during the 2021 Vilamoura Champions Tour at the VilaMoura Equestrian Centre. The always thrilling team competition was the last big class of the week, fully dedicated to the CSIO 3*, combined with a CSI 2*.

Seventeen nations, 5 more than last year’s edition, that happened also in VillaMoura Algarve, the Southern part of Portugal. Elio Travagliati, the Italian Course Designer that was part of the last week of Champions Tour, was in charge of designing the courses during all the week and also in Sunday’s class, a class with 2 different rounds, set at 1,45m and with 12 obstacles and 15 efforts. In the end, the team led by Chef d’Equipe Michael Blake came out on top, registering a combined score of 12 penalty-points for the win. Trevor Breen (IRL) and Highland President led the Irish with two flawless performances.

Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) on Carpe Diem J&F Champblanc and Edwin Smits (SUI) with Farezzo also registered two clean rounds each, helping their nations share a second-place by having the same score of 16 penalty-points.
