François Jr Mathy & Casanova de L’Herse Conquer €25,400 Hubside Speed Challenge CSI 4*

Grimaud, France – October 08, 2021 – The Belgian François Mathy Jr (BEL) won the CSI 4* speed at 1.45m. Riding Casanova de L’Herse, a 13 year old grey stallion ( Ugano Sitte x Kashmir Van Schuttershof) who secured victory by finishing 50 hundredths of a second ahead of the Frenchman. 

Behind him, Julien Epaillard (FRA) finished 2nd with his long-standing ride Usual Suspect d’Auge (Jarnac x Papillon Rouge), timed in 57.80 seconds.

The third spot on the podium was claimed by the former number one rider in the world, Steve Guerdat (SUI), who secured the third spot on the podium, guiding Ulysse des Forêts towards a penalty-free effort in 57.33 seconds.

“I’d already ridden a good round with Hello Diamant and thought I’d be in the top 10, but finally I was a long way down, and then, as usual, Julien took control of the class,” joked the Belgian. “The only solution I had with Casanova was to gallop, I took a stride out just before the last jump and that’s what made the difference.”
