Stephan Barcha & Primavera Montana Power to First in R$120,000 Indoor SHP Grand Prix CSI 2*- W

São, Paulo, Brazil – October 03, 2021 -The 31st Indoor International CSI 2*-W came to an end last Sunday at Sociedade Hípica Paulista (SHP) with the running of the R$120,000 Grand Prix CSI 2*-W for the Jayme Loureiro Filho Trophy. The two-round contest was held with obstacles at 1.50/1.60m, bringing to an end Brazil’s most important showjumping event. Stephan Barcha (BRA), 31, was crowned the champion, riding Primavera Montana, who just turned 10, the only ones to finish both courses flawlessly, being timed at 53.75 seconds in the final round.

Thirty-six combinations entered the ring for the first round of the challenge, among which, according to the rule, the best 12 – two , five with only one foul (4 points) and another four with two faults (8 penalty-points) in the shortest time – enabled. if for the 2nd decisive round.

Flavio Grillo (BRA) & Lorentino JMen

The runners-up were Flavio Grillo (BRA) riding Lorentino JMen, who scored the 1st lap and closed the 2nd lap in 51s69, but with a foul.

Stephan de Freitas Barcha (BRA) & Atomic des Luthiers

Stephan Barcha (BRA) was back on the podium again, this time riding Atomic des Luthiers towards bronze honors, rounding out the top three with just a pole down in the first round and a clear second round performance, tripoing the final timers in 58.74 seconds.

“Riding this mare is a privilege, I’ve been riding her since she was 5 years old. She is still a 9-year-old horse in training. Winning an Indoor is a dream come true, a traditional GP in Brazil. I want to thank the whole team, the owner José Romero Dias Gomes da Silva: a dream that is dreamed of together is much better! Thank God I have a strong team that gives me all the support”, said Stephan (BRA), a member of Team Brazil at Rio 2016.

“Our next challenge is the Brazilian Senior Top Championship in three weeks. If I can win with her it will be another achievement. In the medium term, our project is perhaps the World Championship next year, then the 2023 Pan American Games and 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Marcello Ciavaglia (BRA) with GR Garuda completed the scoreboard from 4th to 6th, followed by Guilherme Foroni (BRA) with Clueso 5 and Sérgio Henrique Neves Marins (BRA) with Cornet Super Star JMen, all with eight penalty- points at the end of the two rounds, in 51s60, 55s09 and 56s32. Marcello, for being the champion in 2020, gave the transitory Jayme Loureiro Filho Trophy to the champion Stephan.

The GP was valid for the Brazilian senior top ranking and selection process to stamp the tickets of three horses and their riders to the 2022 Winter Equestrian Festival in the USA and also for the South American League in the race for the final of the 2022 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final, in Leipzig, Germany. Altogether, the event distributed R$ 400 thousand in prize money, with R$ 120 thousand at stake in the Grand Prix.
