Barcelona, Spain – October 01, 2021 – The British rider Holly Smith (GBR), riding Fruselli, won the Negrita Cup CSIO 5*, a table A against the clock competition, which opened the 109th CSIO Barcelona edition at the Olympic track of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona.
Holly Smith (GBR) and the 11-year-old chestnut Dutch Warmblood gelding (Zambesi x Karandasj) the fastest of the 20 participants who finished the course without penalty.
Lillie Keenan (USA), riding Agana Van Het Gerendal Z (Aganix du Seigneur x Topas), placed second, followed by her compatriot Spencer Smith (USA), with Ayade Hero Z.
In fourth place finished the Brazilian rider established in the RC Polo, Pedro Veniss (BRA) aboard Balada de Colores. The best Spanish representative was Enrique Camiruaga (ESP) on Vintage, in the 20th position.
The Negrita Cup has opened the 109th edition of the CSIO Barcelona, which has been sold out for the Saturday and Sunday sessions. The oldest international sporting event in Spain is back after a year of absence forced by the pandemic. Tomorrow, Saturday, the Copa de SM La Reina – Trofeo Segura Viudas (2 pm) and the Longines Challenge Cup (9 pm), in which the last seven classified in tonight’s qualifying round will compete.
