Tiffany Foster & Brighton Fly to First in $72,900 Suncor Winning Round CSIO 5*

Calgary, Alberta, Canada – Saturday at the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ CSIO 5* brought with it a rainy morning to start off the $600,000 BMO Nations’ Cup CSIO 5* day of the tournament. The day began with the $72,900 Suncor Winning Round CSIO 5*, a competition that features two rounds; an initial first round, and then a second round in which the top 10 placed riders after the first round return to determine the final placings. The winning round was 440m in length, had a time allowed of 66 seconds, and featured 9 obstacles (10 jumping efforts).

The second round of the competition featured the following riders, who returned to the ring in reverse order of qualification (the rider with the lowest score went first): Jordan Coyle (IRL), Matthew Sampson (GBR), Daniel Coyle (IRL), Tiffany Foster (CAN), Conor Swail (IRL), Eric Lamaze (IRL), Jim Ifko (CAN), Amy Millar (CAN), Nayel Nassar (EGY) and Zoe Conter (BEL).

In the end, only four of these riders had two clear rounds: Lamaze, Nassar, Swail, and Foster. It was Tiffany Foster‘s (CAN) time of 51.82 seconds aboard Brighton that secured her victory, after she was able to quickly navigate a difficult track designed by FEI course designer Leopoldo Palacios (VEN). It was a great win for Foster, and her second win so far of the Spruce Meadows 2021 September Series.

After winning the $40,000 ATCO Solutions Cup CSIO5* on Thursday, Conor Swail (IRL) and Koss van Heiste were back on the podium again, this time in second place due to their winning round performance in 52.12 seconds.

Another consistent performance by Nayel Nassar (EGY) earned the Egyptian a top-three finish again. This time he rode Igor van de Wittemoere towards bronze honors in 52.62 seconds.
