Valence, France – August 26, 2021 – For the first highlight of the CSI 4* of this weekend at the Hubside Jumping de Valence, the flawless waltz kept the public enthralled in a summer atmosphere. And it was Jean-Luc Mourier (FRA), very fit on his loyal Captain Keen, who won against a lot of competition.
They were twenty-seven combinations who entered the main arena to take the start of the major class of the day, a 1.45m challenge held under blue skies. Designed by Grégory Bodo (FRA), who has recently returned from Tokyo, where he was an assistant to the course designers in charge of the show jumping events, the course allowed the riders of the CSI 4 * to get used to the competition smoothly.
A niice start by the Frenchman Nicolas Delmotte (FRA), in the saddle on the young and promising Citadin du Château, registering clean performance in a time of 63’37. All that remained was to do it as well, but faster, to claim victory … In their wake, despite a fine penalty-free round, Julien Gonin (FRA) on Caprice de Guinfard did not succeed, unlike Marie Demonte (FRA) and Manchester, the third couple to take the start, imposing on the competition a new time to beat, crossing the timers in 62’93.
Throughout the contest, numerous clear rounds kept on coming. It took all the know-how of Simon Delestre (FRA) and Chesall Zimequest to once again change the provisional leadearboard of the event by crossing the finish line in 61.57 seconds. The dice seemed to have been cast. But that was without counting on the ultra-fast rider Jean-Luc Mourier, already the winner of another class early in the afternoon, in the CSI 2 *. This time, he rode Captain Keen, towards victory in 60.46 seconds.
