The Course for the Individual Jumping Final: The Stage is Set for the Showdown for Gold & Glory!

Tokyo, Japan – August 4, 2021 – It’s showtime for showjumping at the Olympic Games and the final showdown for individual gold and glory takes center stage at the the main arena of the Baji Koen Equestrian Park. After the first individual jumping qualifier that saw 25 combinations complete their performances without having any penalties attributed to them, Santiago Varela (ESP) has certainly made things more challenging in the first round before a possible tiebreaker to determine the medal winners.

Thirty riders and their high-flying beasts from 17 different nations are set to face the 14 obstacles (18 elements) set at the height of 1.65 meters. The individual final is held under a one-round + possible jump-off format, requiring competitors to travel at the speed of 400 meters per minute. The first rider is set to enter the ring at 19:00 local time (6:00 AM EDT – Eastern Daylight Time – New York Time).
