Laura Chapot & Calafornia Claim $20,000 CMJ Sporthorse Open Stake at Lake Placid

Lake Placid, New York, USA – July 03, 2021 – Laura Chapot (USA) rode Calafornia to victory in the $20,000 CMJ Sporthorse 1.40m Open Stake, Saturday’s featured competition at the 2021 Lake Placid Horse Shows, Sponsored by Bainbridge Farms, LLC and Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC.

One of the premier stops on the nation’s hunter-jumper horse show circuit, the 2021 Lake Placid Horse Shows, June 29-July 11, feature more than 100 classes of competition each week awarding more than $600,000 in prize money.

In the $20,000 CMJ Sporthorse 1.40m Open Stake, Chapot (USA) was one of eight entries to reach the jump-off by riding without penalty over the first-round course designed by Alan Wade. She then claimed the win with another clean ride over the tiebreaker course with the fastest time of 36.444 seconds. Second place went to Grace Debney (GBR) who finished the jump-off clean in 36.665 seconds on Boheme De La Roque. Chapot also took third with a clean ride in 36.787 seconds on Gideon.
