Grimaud, Saint Tropez, France – July 01, 2021 – For its fifth week of competition on the Côte d’Azur, the Hubside Jumping Grimaud-Golfe de Saint-Tropez sees Les Bleus off to a great start on this first day of competition. Despite being the oldest rider to compete in the 1.45m challenge, the most important class of the day, Michel Robert (FRA), who is seventy-three years old, was supreme at the helm of his faithful Emerette, claiming top honors in the €25,400 Hubside Speed Challenge CSI 4*.
The Frenchman and the 12-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood mare (Diarado x Almerette) raced across the finish line in 62.67 seconds towards a penalty-free performance.
To make the feat even greater, Robert was ahead of one who, last week, shone at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the Frenchman Edward Levy (FRA) in the saddle on Sirius Black (Calisco du Pitray x Laudanum), the difference being only eleven-hundredths of a second.
At only twenty-four years of age, Paul Delforge (FRA) and Terre du Banney (Crown Z x Olisco) completed the all-French podium, backed by a clean scorecard and time of 63.69 seconds.

“All the quality that one expects from a competition is to be found at the Hubside Jumping: whether it is the footing, the facilities dedicated to the horses, etc. This competition is absolutely brilliant! We feel good, the level of competition is relevant, we can move forward, turn, gallop on the track; the work of the course designers is remarkable and the horses really progress here. The understanding between the riders is also very good. In this event, Emerette was fantastic: We know each other very weel and we are very close. When I feel that she needs it, I let her breathe, because I know that she will be quick afterwards. There is a real harmony between the two of us. All is not perfect. , but it’s coming. I’ll see if I run the Grand Prix with her on Sunday, depending on the next rounds she jumps.”
