Harrie Smolders Out due to Injury

Rotterdam, The Netherlands – June 29, 2021 – Harrie Smolders (NED) sustained an injury competing in the €52,150 Invest Mobile Prize CSI 5* last Friday at Knokke Hippique CSI 5* / 3* / 2*. The Dutchman had advanced to the jump-off of the 1.50m class, suffering a nasty fall that caused one of his ribs to be broken. As a result, Smolders will not start at the CHIO Rotterdam. His place on the Dutch Team defending the Ruiters in Orange in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of the Netherlands CSIO 5* this next Friday will be taken over by Frank Schuttert (NED) aboard Lyonel D.

According to Ruiters in Orange and the Royal Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS – Koninklijke Nederlandse Hippische Sportfederatie), the participation of the all-time Dutch great in the upcoming Olympic Games is not in jeopardy. However, it’s not certain how long he will be out of action.
