Marie Demonte & Manchester Master Many Favorites to Win €65,000 Hubside Jump-off Challenge CSI 5*

Saint-Tropez, France – June 18, 2021 – Without really believing it, the Frenchwoman Marie Demonte (FRA) teamed up with Manchester to win the major class of the day, the €65,000 Hubside Jump-off Challenge CSI 5* last Friday during the second week of the Hubside Jumping Grimaud-Golfe de Saint-Tropez.

At first dominated by the German Christian Ahlmann (GER) on Clintrexo Z (Clintissimo Z x Rex Z), who were quickly caught by the Lorrainer Simon Delestre (FRA) associated with Chesall Zimequest (Casall x Concerto II).

Edward Levy (FRA) & Rebeca LS

Delestre’s lead did not last long, as the Frenchman and the speedy chestnut were overcome by Edward Levy (FRA) on Rebeca LS (Rebozo La Silla x Cassini I), the latter two finishing only four-hundredths off the winning mark, good enough for silver honors.

Winner’s Circle – Marie Demonte (FRA)

“Already when Christian Ahlmann was the first to go into the jump-off, we all thought he was amazing. Then came Simon Delestre, who took one less stride in one of the lines, and then looked clearly unbeatable. Edward Levy still took the lead, with Rebeca, who we all know to be very fast, improving Simon’s benchmark even further. Then comes my turn: Manchester is a very fast horse. He has already won three events here last summer, but today was his first 155cm event: we started off at a gallop and everything went wonderfully. He was incredible. He is nine years old and I would like to come back with him in two weeks to make him my lead horse in the CSI 4*. I think he is ready! He ran a 2* Grand Prix without any penalties and 3* Grand Prix of the Grand National also without fault: I train my horses a lot on this circuit that I find great. We let him rest a little, for example, he did not jump in La Baule last weekend. He came here in great shape! He was already fifth yesterday: nothing to say!”
