Jonathan Corrigan & Fair Play Fly to First in $50,000 Hits Grand Prix CSI 2*

Saugerties, New York, USA – June 12, 2021 – The third week of the Hits Saugerties Spring Series has concluded at Hits-on-the-Hudson. This final week featured USEF-Rated and FEI CSI 2* competition including a $25,000 Hits Grand Prix, $50,000 Grand Prix CSI 2*, and $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby. Read on to catch up on this week’s champions and results.

FEI CSI 2* competition concluded on Saturday with the $50,000 Hits Grand Prix where Corrigan (IRL) rose in the ranks to claim first place aboard Fair Play. The Irishman and the 11-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood gelding earned the winner’s trophy against only one other clear jump-off round in second place, being timed in 40.46 seconds for the victory.

Laura Chapot (USA) and Chandon Blue (Chacco-Blue x Landcapitol) were the only other pair to complete two flawless efforts, finishing second in 41.61 seconds.

Kevin Mealiff (IRL) and Tupac van de Vrombautshoeve Z (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve) were the fastest pair amongst three combinations that had one rail down for 4 penalties in the tiebreaker, rounding out the top three in 43.03 seconds.

Hits Saugerties returns with the Summer Series that is set to host USEF-Rated 5* and FEI CSI 4* competition July 21-August 8, featuring a $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, $213,300 FEI Grand Prix, and World Championship Hunter Rider Week
