Kristen Vanderveen & Bull Run’s Divine Fortune Fly to First in $37,000 Power & Speed Challenge CSI 3*

Mill Spring, North Carolina, USA – June 09, 2021 – Kristen VanderVeen (USA) and Bull Runโ€™s Divine Fortune rode to win Wednesdayโ€™s $37,000 Power & Speed Stake CSI 3* during the first week of the Tryon Summer Series at the Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort.

The American and the 2009 Dutch Warmblood mare (Padinus x Caruso), owned by Bull Run Jumpers, were faul-free and stopped the second phase timers in 31.5 seconds to claim the blue ribbon. The dynamic duo teamed up to shine in exactly the right class, she noted.

โ€œTodayโ€™s pretty exciting! I brought this horse this week only to jump this class, so Iโ€™m really glad the plan came together. Sheโ€™s been great, but hasnโ€™t gotten to jump much at the FEI [level] because โ€˜the boysโ€™ have been taking over the spotlight,โ€ VanderVeen reported of her deep string of talented horses. โ€œShe [Divine Fortune] was recently second in the National Grand Prix. Itโ€™s going to be a lighter week for us, but itโ€™s off to a good start.

Conor Swail (IRL) & Koss van Heiste

The next two spots on the podium were claimed by Conor Swail (IRL), being second aboard Koss van Heiste, the 2010 Belgian Warmblood gelding (Breemeersen Adorado x Hadise Van Heiste) owned by Eadaoin Aine Ni Choileain PC, in 33.924 seconds.

Conor Swail (IRL) & Gamble

The Irishman was third with Gamble, the 2011 Dutch Warmblood gelding (Vingino x Indoctro) owned by Asta Torokvei, in a time of 34.104 seconds.

Vanderveen complimented the course designger, โ€œthe course was great. It was a little bigger than I expected, but the speed part of it was really open with some fun slices,โ€ she shared. The competitive ride was made possible in part by Divine Fortuneโ€™s talent for taking the angle, VanderVeen concluded. โ€œThat horse is really good at finding the jumps, so I can hold a pretty aggressive angle and she always sees it. It was actually a really fun speed section!โ€
