
La Baule, France – June 09, 2021 – From 10th to 13th June, the 60th edition of the Longines International Jumping of La Baule CSIO 5* gets ready to welcome the crème de la crème of world showjumping riders and horses, and for a good reason. In the CSIO5* of France, unique competition of this label in the country, 19 nations (Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey), 176 horses and 68 riders will compete in 9 international classes, among which 8 counting for the world ranking.
The Swiss stars Steve Guerdat (SUI), Martin Fuchs (SUI) and Beat Mändli (SUI) are expected, just like the Dutch Marc Houtzager (NED) and Harrie Smolders (NED), the Irish Bertram Allen (IRL), Cian O’Connor (IRL) and Shane Sweetnam (IRL), as well as the British John Whitaker (GBR) and Scott Brash (GBR). On the Blues’ side, the best will be in Loire-Atlantique too, like Kevin Staut (FRA), Pénélope Leprévost (FRA), Roger Yves Bost (FRA), Simon Delestre (FRA), Marc Dilasser (FRA), Nicolas Delmotte (FRA), Mathieu Billot (FRA), Laurent Goffinet (FRA), Olivier Robert (FRA)… to name but a few.
For several pairs in competition, the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ CSIO5* of France, held on Friday 11th June (02.00pm) and the Grand Prix Longines of La Baule CSIO 5*, held on Sunday (01.00pm) counts as one of the qualifiers for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo, the 2021 European championships and the 2022 World Equestrian Games. The Derby of the Pays de la Loire Region will thrill the audience of the François André stadium as well.
On the CSI1* side, reserved to experienced amateurs and horses in the making, 5 nations (Belgium, France, Lebanon, Slovenia & South Africa) represented by 46 riders and 58 horses will confront in 8 classes, among which the mini-Derby of the Laiterie de Montaigu on Saturday (10.55 am) and the Grand Prix Land Rover on Sunday (5.00 pm) as a climax of the event.
