Jérôme Guery & Grupo Prom Milton Victorious in €25,600 Madrid Horse Week Trophy CSI 5*

Madrid, Spain – May 21, 2021 – Jérôme Guery (BEL) and the lightning-fast Grupo Prom Milton powered to a convincing win in the opening class of the Longines Global Champions Tour of Madrid CSI 5*. The super-speedy pair took the first win of the weekend beating Olympic champion Eric Lamaze (CAN) by just 0.01 seconds.

Beating a world-class field of 55 international starters Jérôme Guery (BEL) made it look easy producing a smooth fast clear and putting Eric Lamaze (CAN) and Chacco Kid to finish 2nd while Constant van Paesschen (BEL) claimed 3rd with Vendetta Treize.

It looked like the first clear round of the day was going to come from Cian O’Connor (IRL) and the striking grey Kilkenny but they crossed through the timers picking up one time fault. It was Christian Kukuk (GER) who lead the way for a long time after an early clear on Checker in 37.04 seconds.

Young gun and a new face on the tour Jodie Hall Mcateer (GBR) set the crowd cheering as she took strides out everywhere and flew into 5th with her 11-year-old bay Kimosa van het Kritrahof.

It was home heros Ismael Garcia Roque (ESP) and Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) who got everyone on their feet as they both produced foot perfect clear rounds and but couldn’t quite match the pace today.

Other combinations looking on strong form in Madrid and finishing clear included Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), Emily Moffitt (GBR), Nayel Nassar (EGY), Harrie Smolders (NED), Kevin Staut (FRA), Cindy van der Straten (BEL).
