
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – May 13, 2021 – The first of many exciting weeks of international competitions at Otomí Club Hípico got underway on Thursday and it was Jaime Azcarraga Romandia (MEX) and The Gambler who took all the risks to win the MXN $535,000 Clasico CSI 2*.
A total of forty-entries lined up for the contest run under a jump-off format, with six of them advancing to the decisive phase. Azcarraga and the 12-year-old bay Danish Warmblood stallion (Cajus x Carano) were supreme by not only overcoming all the obstacles but also being the quickest to do so, crossing the finish line in 41.06 seconds for top honors.

Carlos Rodolfo Molina Gordillo (MEX) overcame more experienced riders aboard Calco de Trivera (Calypso x Darco). The 19-year-old rider and the 10-year-old bay Spanish Sport Horse (CDE) were also double clear, earning a second-place finish due to their final time of 41.45 seconds.

One of Mexico most experienced equestrians, Nicolas Pizarro (MEX) rode Oak Grove’s Enkidu (Ensor vdh Pleville x Quidam de Revel), securing the third spot on the podium with no penalties in 42.32 seconds.
