Gorla Minore, Italy – April 25, 2021 – The Longines EEF Series was launched last week at the Equieffe Equestrian Centre with Sergio Álvarez Moya (ESP) and FEI Jumping World Cup Champion Alamo claiming the first ever GP class of the series, the €53,100 Mail Boxes Etc Grand Prix CSIO 3*.
Despite being a young partnership, the Spaniard and the 13-year-old Royal Dutch Sport Horse (Dutch Warmblood) gelding (Ukato x Equador) showed a strong bond in the 1.50m contest. The gelding answered all of Moya’s commands swiftly, which propelled them not only over all the obstacles in their two performances but also secured the victory backed by a jump-off time of 37.18 seconds.
Sanne Thijssen (NED) and Con Quidam RB (Quinar x Cardino) earned silver honors. The Dutch combination were not too far off the final pace set by the eventual winners, finishing second only due to their final time of 37.45 seconds.
Billy Twomey (IRL) and Chat Botte E.D. (Casall x Darco) registered a clean scorecard too, rounding out the top three by crossing the finish line in 38.01 seconds.
