Wellington, Florida, USA – April 02, 2021 – Bertram Allen (IRL) has announced the sale of Castlefield Vegas to Sergio Nieto del Rio (MEX). The Irishman made the following announcement on his website:
“Castlefield Vegas (Cassino x Lux Z), owned by Ballywalter Stables LTD, Martin Egan and Ger O Neill – Castlefield Sport Horses, is sold to Mexican rider Sergio Nieto del Rio.
Bertram took over the ride of the talented Irish Sport Horse gelding in January. After just three weeks together, they started their partnership successfully at the WEF festival by winning both the $1,000 Bainbridge 1.40m CSI 5* and the $37,000 Adequan WEF Challenge Round 6 in the space of a week. The duo completed their double win two days later by winning the $137,000 IDA Development Grand Prix CSI 3*.
The 11-year-old gelding was bought by Martin Egan as a 3-year-old and has previously been an exceptional horse for Castlefield winning a European gold medal with Jason Foley (IRL) and part of 3 winning Nations Cup teams for Ireland.
Castlefield Vegas was bred by John Clarke, Co. Cavan.
