Jordan Coyle & Eristov Excel in $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix at Ocala

Ocala, Florida, USA – February 19, 2021 – The Hits Ocala Winter Circuit has crossed the mid-point with featured competition including the $200,000 Ocala Electric Utility Grand Prix, $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby and the crowning of the ACE Equestrian Mid-Circuit Champions. The excitement continues for five more weeks of USEF-Rated Hunter/Jumper competition through March 28, culminating with the seventh Great American $1 Million Grand Prix

Jordan Coyle (IRL) had an impressive summer at Hits Saugerties in 2020 and it was no different last week. The Irishman joined Eristov in the Winner’s Circle at Hits Ocala to accept top honors in the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix on Friday. Coyle navigated the jump-off aboard Elan Farm’s 12-year-old grey Dutch Warmblood gelding (Cicero Z van Paemel x Concorde), crossing the jump-off timers in 34.577 seconds.

The closest ones to the eventual winners were Kristen Vanderveen (USA) and Bull Run’s Faustino de Tili (Berlin x Darco), matching their double clear but almost a full second slower after being timed in 34.445 seconds during the tiebreaker.

It was a high-level class and the top-three placed riders certified that. Bronze honors was claimed by the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games team gold medalist, Devin Ryan (USA). The American rider also managed to register two clean efforts, rounding out the top three on Caspar’s Lasino (Berlin x Lasino) in 35.851 seconds.
