Oliva Nova, Spain – January 21, 2021 – The main ring at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour was once again battle of speed specialists on Thursday during the second week of Spring MET I. As many times before, Julien Epaillard (FRA) and David Will (GER) were the main characters of another verse of the sport written there, going head-to-head right down to wire for the in the first Grand Prix Qualifier, the €26,100 Rent a Car Dénia Prize CSI 3*.
In the end, Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Safari d’Auge prevailed in the 1.45m speed challenge. Perhaps the winningest rider at the venue the past two years, the flying Frenchman guided the 2006 bay Selle Français stallion (Diamant de Semilly – Marquise du Grimeux) towards a penalty-free performance in 59.88 seconds
David Will (GER) and Forest Gump 29 (Forsyth x Feuerwerk) gave the eventual winners a run for their money, finishing second only eight-hundredths of a slower than them.
Jérôme Guery (BEL) and Eras Ste. Hermelle (Vargas de Ste Hermelle x Andiamo) completed the podium with no penalties and a time of 60.95 seconds.
