Julien Epaillard Scores a One-two in $450,000 SAEF Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 5*-W at Riyadh

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – December 17, 2020 – The second week of the Diryah Equestrian Festival got underway on Thursday and it was Julien Epaillard (FRA) who stole the spot. The “Flying Frenchman” claimed a one-two in the feature class of the day, the Big Tour’s $450,000 SAEF Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 5*-W at the Al Duhami Farm in the Saudi capital.

Epaillard secured first place in the 1.50m speed challenge aboard Alibi de La Roque. He guided the 10-year-old Selle Français gelding (Mylord Carthago x Kannan) flawless along Uliano Vezzani’s (ITA) course, overcoming all the obstacles before crossing the finish line in 58.81 seconds.

The Frenchman also earned reserve honors on Queeletta (Quality 9 x Landor S), registering another penalty-free effort, timed in 59.88 seconds.

It was an all-French podium with Kevin Staut (FRA) and Tolede de Mescam Harcour (Mylord Carthago x Kouglof II) rounding out the top three with no penalties and a time of 60.34 seconds.
