Budapest, Hungary – November 27, 2020 – The Budapest Show Jumping World Cup CSI 2*–W has started at the National Riding Hall with riders representing 11 countries. The most prestigious competition on Friday was a 1.45m speed contest against the clock with the participation of 48 competitors.
There were not many clear rounds as the relatively difficult design challenged both riders and horses. Some of the riders took high risks and tried to shorten the lines and their time. One of them was the Austrian Gerfried Puck (AUT) aboard Melody vd Smidshoeve, members of team Alpenspan, whose calculations proved worthwhile, starting the weekend with a victory after completing their penalty-free effort in 68.57 seconds.
Second place was claimed by Urh Bauman (SLO) and Larisal, timed in 69.20 second. Bronze was taken by another Austrian rider, Dieter Köfler (AUT) on Farah Dibah, the duo crossing the finish line in 69.36 seconds.
As the best Hungarian rider, Zsófia Vándor (HUN) on Quintus captured fourth place, ahead of Slovakian Andrej Holly (SVK) and German Tobias Bachl.
