Quarteira, Faro, Portugal – November 08, 2020 – Eduardo Menezes (BRA) and H5 Chaganus stole the spotlight on Sunday during the fifth week of the 2020 Vilamoura Champions Tour. The duo claimed top honors in the €51,250 Grand Prix CSI 3* at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre.
A total of 60 combinations entered the ring to face the 1.50m obstacles set on the course designed by Bernardo Costa Cabral (POR) with only six of them advancing to the jump-off. Menezes and the 2008 bay Oldenburg gelding (Chacco-Blue x Carthago) registered the fastest time among the three pairs that recorded a double clear, securing the victory in 38.96 seconds.
Ireland came close to having back-to-back Grand Prix wins at the venue, but this time Alexander Butler (IRL) and Pico (Chekhov Pzk x Carrolls Flight) had to settle for second place, going through the finish line in 39.83 seconds.
Kim Emmen (NED) and Jack van het Dennehof (Toulon x Quidam de Revel) earned bronze honors after completing their second penalty-free effort just eleven hundredths of a second slower than the latter two.
