2020 Edition of Jumping Mechelen CSI 5*-W Cancelled

Mechelen, Belgium – November 01, 2020 – The Organizing Committee of Jumping Mechelen CSI 5*-W have released a statement announcing that the 2020 edition of the event is cancelled due to health safety concerns as a result of the recent surge in Coronavirus cases in Europe.

Theofficial announcement on their website states the following:

“Dear friends of Jumping Mechelen,

Sadly, the new countermeasures introduced in Belgium against the pandemic mean that we have been left with no choice but to cancel Jumping Mechelen 2020.We wanted it so badly, we were motivated, we had now worked out different scenarios and finally came up with a nice light version to end the year with a sporty highlight. We wanted to offer, as an end-of-the-year gift, to the visitors on site but also all our fans sitting next to their Christmas tree a few days of fantastic and beautiful sport. We will now have to replace these moments with the wonderful memories we have since 1980 and to focus on our next edition in 2021 in the Nekkerhal, where we can finally celebrate those 40 years all together! We too must take responsibility, put the health of our own people and all of you first. Together we must fight this pandemic and look ahead! We would like to thank everyone who has supported us in the last months especially our fantastic partners, our loyal employees, the mayors of Mechelen and Lier and the Azelhof! We wish you a lot of strength, take good care of yourselves and each other and we will see you all again in 2021 for a wonderful edition of Jumping Mechelen from 26 to 30 December ’21.

Met pijn in ons sportief hart zal ook Jumping Mechelen zich nu gaan richten op haar volgende editie in 2021!

Liefste vrienden van Jumping Mechelen,

Helaas betekenen de nieuwe maatregelen die in België tegen de pandemie zijn geïntroduceerd, dat we geen andere keus hebben dan Jumping Mechelen 2020 te annuleren.

We wilden het zo graag, we waren gemotiveerd, we hadden inmiddels verschillende scenario’s uitgewerkt en kwamen zo tot een mooie, alternatieve lightversie om het jaar dan alsnog met een sportief hoogtepunt te eindigen.

We wilden niet alleen de enkelingen ter plaatse maar ook al onze fans in hun zetel naast de kerstboom fantastische sport aanbieden als eindejaarsgeschenk. We zullen het nu moeten doen met de supermooie herinneringen die we hebben sinds 1980 en ons moeten focussen op onze volgende editie in 2021 … in de Nekkerhal, waar we dan eindelijk allemaal samen die 40 jaar kunnen vieren!

Ook wij moeten onze verantwoordelijkheid nemen, de gezondheid van onze eigen mensen en jullie allemaal vooropstellen. Samen moeten we deze pandemie bestrijden en vooruitkijken!

Wij willen hierbij iedereen bedanken die ons heeft gesteund in de laatste maanden, onze fantastische partners, onze trouwe medewerkers, de burgmeesters van Mechelen en Lier en het Azelhof !

We wensen jullie nog heel veel sterkte, zorg goed jezelf en voor elkaar en we zien elkaar weer van 26 tot en met 30 december 2021 voor een spetterende editie van Jumping Mechelen.
