Holly Smith & Fruselli Fly to First in Small Grand Prix at Vilamoura Champions Tour CSI 4*

Quarteira, Faro, Portugal – October 24, 2020 – Holly Smith (GBR) and Fruselli flew to first in the €20,170 Small Grand Prix CSI 4* on Saturday during the third week of the 2020 Vilamoura Champions Tour at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre.

One hundred and eight combinations entered the ring for the highly-contested 1.40m jump-off challenge, with only five of them advancing to the jump-off. Riding the 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Zambesi x Karandasj), the Brit managed to register the fastest time among all the finalists while keeping all the poles up, crossing the timers in 36.84 seconds.

Victor Bettendorf (LUX) and Catapulte de La Roque (Quaprice Boimargot Quincy x Kannan*GFE) were right on the heels of the eventual winners, finishing only twelve-hundredths off their mark.

George Whitaker (GBR) and and Special Warrior (Warrior x Caretino Glory) rounded out the top three as the only other combination that had a clean scorecard, securing bronze honors in 40.50 seconds.
