Laura Kraut & Goldwin Win to Claim the Gold in €30,000 Hubside Grand Prix CSI 2*

Grimaud, France – October 18, 2020 – It seems that the sun along Mediterranean has provided Laura Kraut (USA) with additional energy, especially since her return to the rings after a mild injury. The American has been on fire, notching up wins and top placings wherever she competes. Today, she rode Goldwin to victory in the in €30,000 Hubside Grand Prix CSI 2*, the icing on the cake of a great season for the American.

Laura guided the 8-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding (Emerald x Understone van de Kapel) beautifully along the track, overcoming all the 1.45m obstacles yet still managing to register the fastest time (39.22 seconds) among the 9 combinations that had qualified for the jump-off.

The next two spots on the podium were claimed by the host nation, with Mathieu Billot (FRA) and Ilena S (Verdi x Calido I) securing the second spot backed by a final time of 40.35 seconds.

Francois Xavier Boudant (FRA) and GFE Cicave du Taulus (Untouchable M x Voltaire) were the other French duo to climb the podium, registering no penalties while going through the jump-off timers in 40.76 seconds.

Winner’s Circle – Laura Kraut (USA)

“Really, it was a great Grand Prix, with a top course! There were almost fifty starters, including the best riders in the world, sometimes with young horses or horses that needed to get back into the race. But with nine qualifiers for the jump-off, we can consider that the course designer really did a great job! In the tiebreaker, I was the last to start. I didn’t have a chance to watch my rivals’ courses, I was just taking a few quick glances at the giant screen in the paddock. My main question was the number of strides in the last line. But you know, faced with such a field, there are not a thousand solutions: you absolutely have to have the best horse at this precise moment (laughs)! What Goldwin was this morning. He is only eight years old but is definitely extraordinary. I’ve been riding him since he was six years old and systematically when he hits the course I feel like he wants to give the best of himself. Today, he signed his first big Grand Prix victory, he was third in another Grand Prix last week. We couldn’t have hoped for a better finish for our European season. Goldwin will get some rest now; then I’ll go to Florida for the American season.”

Laura Kraut (USA) & Goldwin
