Vilamoura, Portugal – May 13, 2020 – The Portuguese Equestrian Federation and Vilamoura Equestrian Centre have made an announcement stating that the 2020 FEI Jumping European Championships for Young Riders, Juniors & Children has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event was scheduled to take place from the 19th to the 26th of July at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre in Quarteira, Faro, Portugal.
“It is so sad that the FEI European Jumping Championships for Young Riders, Youth and Children at Vilamoura is yet another sporting event to fall victim to the pandemic, especially knowing how much time and effort has already gone into the preparations”, FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez said, “but it is great that the Organisers and the Portuguese National Federation have already been so proactive and have come up with a proposal to potentially reschedule the Championships in 2021 and we will discuss that with the FEI Board next month.”
