
Valkenswaard, The Netherlands – December 01, 2019 – Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) has announced the retirement of Lintea Tequila. The Australian formed a successful partnership with the bay Holsteiner mare at the top of the sport, highlight by the win in the 2015 Global Champions Tour Grand Prix CSI 5* at Doha, Qatar.
The Australian rider issued the following statement on her website:
“We hereby announce the retirement of the 16-year-old Olympic mare Lintea Tequila (Campbell 5 x Corrado II).”
“At the 2016 Olympics in Rio, the duo came close to challenging for a medal as the pair finished 9th individually after having one pole down in the final round of the competition.”
“Together with Edwina, Tequila has won several five-star classes, Grands Prix as well as claiming many podium places at some of the most significant shows around the world.”
”Tequila has been one of my absolute best horses. She’s a sharp and beautiful mare with plenty of blood, a great mind and lots of character…. And definitely the boss in the stables, ” Edwina says about her previous top horse.
“Tequila will enjoy her retirement at Stal Tops in The Netherlands.”
