Poznan, Poland – Janika Sprunger (SUI) and King Edward reigned supreme in the PLN $370,300 Grand Prix of Poznan CSI 4* for the President of PKO Bank Polski Award, presented by the President of Poznan during the Cavaliada Tour CSI 4* in Poland.
Five of the fifty riders advanced to the jump-off of the 1.60m challenge with only three registering a double clear.
Janika Sprunger (SUI) claimed top honors by guiding the 9-year-old chestnut Belgian Warmblood gelding (Edward 28 x Feo) flawlessly in 39.28 seconds across the finish line at the end of their second performance.
Wojciech Wojcianiec (POL) and Chintablue (Chintan x Chacco-Blue) gave the host nation and its spectators something to cheer about, finishing second in 39.47 seconds.
Emanuele Camilli (ITA) and Jakko (Vagabond de La Pomme x Mr. Blue) rounded out the top three, completing their second performance two tenths of a second slower than the latter two.
“This is my first time in Poznan and I would neve have expected the atmosphere of the event to be so great. It was a very successful event, especially for me. Today, the course was definitely the most challenging and the subsequent obstacles kept emerging so quickly. The horses had to be very concentrated and the riders had to make quick decisions. Eventually, I was glad that only five riders got into the jump-off, thanks to which my chances for victory were greater. What more can I say? We took advantage of that chance,” said Janika Sprunger.
“It wasn’t luck, it was just a quicker ride,” added Janika laughing.
“I’m very happy with the results, particularly as I haven’t been lucky for the last two days. Today, Chintablue performed phenomenal jumps and everything worked out as planned. A split second and I would be in Janika’s place today,” said Wojciech Wojcianiec.
