Maastricht, The Netherlands – November 08, 2091 – Henk van de Pol (NED) and Looyman Z won the €36,000 VDL Groep Prize CSI 4* yesterday during the Jumping Indoor Maastricht CSI 4* in the Netherlands.
The first qualification for the Longines Trophy counted with the participation of 43 combinations of which 16, among them 10 Dutch riders, reached the jump-off. Therefore, it was more likely for a Dutch victory and that was the case.
In the end, it was Henk van de Pol (NED) who finally clocked the fastest clear jump-off peformance aboard the 9-year-odl bay Looyman Z (Numero Uno x Wellington), timed in 32.84 seconds.
The next two placings were also claimed by Dutch combinations. Maikel van der Vleuten took the runner-up spot with the nine-year-old Beauville Z (Bustique x Jumpy des Fontaines) after completing their second effort flawlessly and stoppoing the timers in 33.72 seconds.
Jur Vrieling (NED) finished in third place aboard Comino (Cassini II x Corrado I) completed the podium, only two-hundredths of a second slower than the latter two.
Winner’s Circle: Henk van de Pol (NED)
“It was a nice jump-off. There were not many possibilities for short cuts, but Looyman is a naturally speedy horse. I just have to ride with hi mand than he often wins. He was also good in Oslo and Helsinki. I wanted to ride in Maastricht, but that is more or less all for this year.”
