San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – October 06, 2019 – Bruno Cavalheiro Rebello (BRA) and Chabello won their fourth Otomí Grand Prix with a win in the $510,000 Gran Premio CSI 2* at the Club Hípico Otomí in San Miguel de Allende (MEX).

Cavalheiro has won all four events with the 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Chacco Blue x Baloubet du Rouet). The duo won in their typical convincing style, recording a margin of victory of more than seven seconds. Their winning time over the shortened course was 37.86 seconds. The Brazilian also finished second, this time aboard Sandorado (Sandro Boy x Chellano Z), registering a jump-off time of 45.63 seconds.

Rodrigo Lambre (BRA) completed the all-Brazilian podium with a third-place finish aboard Chapilot (Chacco-Blue x Pilot). The duo had Cavalheiro’s time, but they finished with 4 penalty-points; having a final time of 35.21 seconds.

“The truth is that I have had very good luck here,” Cavalheiro said. “Today was very special, because I went into the jump-off with two horses. It came out very well!”

Just five combinations were able to navigate course designer Guilherme Jorge‘s (BRA) first round track cleanly, and Cavalheiro was the only rider to produce a double-clear effort. He did it twice.

“[Jorge] designed the courses at the Pan American Games in Lima (PER). He is a great designer—one of the top in the world,” Cavalheiro said. “It was a demanding course; it was very technical and demanded energy. It had all the right questions for the horse and rider.”

Cavalheiro jumped early with Chabello, and once a top result was secured, he focused simply on keeping the jumps up with his second ride in the jump-off.

“With [Chabello], I could risk a bit more, and I was lucky and jumped clear. Rodrigo [Lambre] came after me and is very fast, but I was lucky. So, with [Sandorado] I came in a bit more relaxed and came out clean.”

Cavalheiro has been partnered with Chabello for three years, while Sandorado is a new

“[Chabello] is slowly turning into a very competitive horse,” Cavalheiro said. “I think he
really likes to jump here!”
