Ali Ramsay & Lutz Light Up to Win $105,600 Grand Prix CSI 3* at International Bromont

2019.07.29.99.99.99 Bromont CSI 3 GP Ali Ramsay & Lutz Tom von Kapherr

Bromont, July 28, 2019 – Canadian Ali Ramsay (CAN) and her mount Lutz won their first Grand Prix together yesterday at the International Bromont CSI 3*, on a magnificent court, despite weather conditions.

Due to a thunderstorm, the $105,600 International Bromont Grand Prix had to be interrupted and the heavy rain (more than 14 mm in 20 minutes) looked like it might compromise the return to competition, but the excellent quality of the footing allowed the continuation of activities on an course better than ever. In fact, 35 minutes after the announcement of the restart of the class, the international ring was drained and ready for the waiting participating pairs.

The course designed by Leopoldo Palacios (VEN) allowed only 6 pairs to advance to the jump-off: Canadians Ali Ramsay (CAN) with Lutz and Keean White (CAN) with Corette and Tahiorn, Americans Leslie Burr-Howard (CAN) with Donna Speciale and Christine McCrea (USA) with Dali de Vy, as well as Irishman Daniel Coyle (IRL).

The first two pairs on the course, Christine McCrea (USA) & Dali de Vy and Keean White (USA) & Tahiorn both incurred 8 penalty-points over obstacles, leaving the door open for the following competitors.

Daniel Coyle (IRL) and CHS Krooze (Kroongraaf – Cruise Oak) put pressure on as his horse rushed forward and executed a clear round in the fastest time of 42.20 seconds to take over the lead. However, the Irishman would soon find out that their performance would be good enough for second place.

The following pair, Ali Ramsay (CAN) and Lutz, a 10-year-old chestnut Westphalian gelding (Lordanos x Pilot) successfully got ahead by twelve-hundredths of a second, taking over the lead for good after a flawless performance in 42.08 seconds.

Keean White (CAN) and Corette (Lupicor x Clinton) rounded out the top three as the faster of the two combinations with four time-penalties, securing bronze honors in 42.84 seconds.

An Excellent Week for Leslie Howard & Donna Speciale
Leslie Howard (USA), who won the welcome event on Thursday with Donna Speciale, and finished second at the Classic CSI 3* on Friday, took fourth place this time.

Activities Begin again Wednesday
The second and last week of International Bromont will take place from Wednesday, July 31 to Sunday, August 4, 2019. The event will culminate with the presentation of the International Bromont Grand Prix CSI 3*, offering more than $130,000 in prize money.
