Calgary, Alberta, Canada – June 29, 2019 –  Kent Farrington (USA) and Jasper won the $36,100 Friends of the Meadows Cup CSI 5* yesterday during the ‘Pan American‘ at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada.

Warm weather greeted horses and riders for day two of competition at the Meadows on the Green which started at 8:00 with the 1.50m jump-off challenge.

Forty-six horse/rider combinations stepped through the portal to challenge the 1.50m track set by FEI Course Designer Alan Wade (IRL). Twelve partnerships delivered penalty-free rides in the first round and advanced to the decisive phase over the shortened track, riders were having to take risks in an attempt to secure their place in the winner’s circle and for some the risk paid off.

Kent Farrington (USA) and the 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion (Heartbreaker x Wega van’T Gestelhof) completed their jump-off performance flawlessly, going through the timers in 32.36 seconds for the victory

The eventual winners were almost two seconds faster than Rodrigo Lambre (BRA)  and J’Adore van het Klinkhof (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Alcatraz), timed in 34.30 seconds.

Diego Vivero (ECU) and Zambia Mystic Rose (Chin Chin x Unknown) completed the podium with no penalties, crossing through the final timers in 35.59 seconds during the tiebreaker.
