
Oliva Nova, Spain – March 30, 2019 – Samantha McIntosh (NZL) and Check In 2 won the €50,350 Grand Prix CSI 3* yesterday during the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour‘s Spring MET III in Oliva Nova, Spain.
The New Zealander and the 16-year-old bay Oldenburg stallion (Böckmann’s Cordalme Z x Lord Pezi) triumphed in the 1.50m challenge after completing their second performance without having any penalties attributed to them, crossing the finish line in 41.50 seconds during the tiebreaker.
Edwin Smits (SUI) and Best of Berlin BS (Caspar x Colman) were the only other combination to register two penalty-free performances, earning silver honors in 44.72 seconds.
Jenny Rankin (IRL) and Bennys Legacy (Lupicor x Voltaire) posted the fastest time among the four finalists, but this came at the expense of one rail down, meaning that they had to settle for third place with four penalty-points and a final time of 39.93 seconds.
