
Leopold van Asten (NED) and VDL Groep Beauty won the €26,375 Beeten VD Prize CSI 3* yesterday during the Winter Masters at the Equestrian Centre de Peelbergen (ECP) in Kronenberg, The Netherlands.
The Dutchman and the 13-year-old grey Dutch Warmblood mare (For Pleasure x Contender) were supreme in the 1.45m challenge, besting twenty-two other combinations in the jump-off after completing their second run flawlessly, going through the timers in 33.54 seconds.
It was a one-two for the home nation as Marc Houtzager (NED) and Sterrehof’s Dante (Canturano x Phin Phin) matched the winners’ two penalty-free efforts, finishing second due to their final time of 34.77 seconds during the tiebreaker.
Karin Martinsen (SWE) and Holsteins Matina (Party Dance x Charmeur) earned bronze honors after registering no penalties and a jump-off time of 34.92 seconds.
