Wellington, Florida, USA – January 26, 2019 – Darragh Kenny (IRL) and Classic Dream overcame the rain and forty-four combinations to win the $134,000 Adequan Grand Prix CSI 3* yesterday during the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC).
For the second week in a row, Juan Pablo Betancourt (COL) showed the way to the rest of the field, posting the first clean performance aboard Dreamer des Bergeries (Ugano Sitte x Golden Dreams des Bergeries) to advance to the jump-off. The triple caused havoc for several riders, keeping them from advancing. Element b fell several times since competitors were being dragged into it after landing.

Weather was also a factor since it started drizzling towards the end of the first round, but that didn’t keep Catherine Tyree (USA), Beth Underhill (CAN), Beat Mandli (SUI), Darragh Kenny (IRL), Beezie Madden (USA), Paul O’Shea (IRL), Adrienne Sternlicht (USA), Kent Farrington (USA) and Eduardo Menezes (BRA) all from advancing to a very exciting jump-off.
Kenny and the 9-year-old German Sport Horse gelding (Colestus x Inster Graditz) claimed the victory by making a tight rollback to the wall, shaving off precious time before crossing the finish line flawlessly in 42.422 seconds.
Kent Farrington (USA) and Baltic Star 2 (Bacardi x Chalan) were the closest ones, earning silver honors after having no penalties attributed to them over the two rounds, completing the latter one in 43.238 seconds.
Beezie Madden (USA) and Chic Hin D Hynrecourt (Taran De La Pomme x Elanville) rounded out the top three with no penalties and a time of 44.202 seconds during the tiebreaker.

Podium: 2) Kent Farrington (USA), 1) Darragh Kenny (IRL), 3) Beezie Madden
