Equestrian Community Mourns the Loss of Great Britain’s Tim Stockdale

The equestrian community has lost one of its most respected equestrian members due to health issues. Sadly, Tim Stockdale (GBR) passed away yesterday in Northampton, England. After a short but losing battle against stomach cancer, illness which he had made public to the equestrian community last month. The renowned British equestrian was 54 years old, with about 30 of them dedicated to the sport he loved.

Amongst the many highlights of his career, were participating in the 2002 World Equestrian Games, the 2008 Olympic Games, and the 2009 European Championships.

He also achieved his life-long dream of winning the King George V Gold Cup at Hickstead in 2010, riding Fresh Direct Kalico Bay. Moreover, he represented Great Britain in more than 50 Nations Cups and contributed to the British squad as their chef d’equipe back in 2010.

Stockdale’s last statement to the equestrian community on his Facebook account had been the following:

“I would like to Thank Everyone for all of their messages of support over the last couple of weeks. Hospital has been really tough but I’m home now and that will be the best medicine for me and my family. I’ve still got a very long way to go but being home is wonderful.”

We express our sincere condolences to his wife Laura, sons Joseph and Mark, relatives, friends and all those who held him dear to their hearts.
