The 2018 Vilamoura Champions Tour and all of this year’s showjumping competitions came to a grand finale yesterday at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre in Quarteira, Faro, Portugal.
The €50,000 Turismo do Algarve Grand Prix CSI 2* was the curtain call of a sunny and exciting season of top horsemanship on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and as so many times before throughout the year, an Irishman came out on top.

Greg Patrick Broderick (IRL) & Westbrook
Greg Patrick Broderick (IRL) and Westbrook claimed top honors, taking the winner’s share of the €50,000 purse. The Irishman guided the 10-year-old grey Swedish Warmblood gelding (Jaguar Mail x Cardento) over all the obstacles, registering no penalties at the end of their two performances and a final time of 37.18 seconds for the victory.
Louise Simpson (GBR) and Felix (Cs Online x Landadel) were the runners-up, having no penalties attributed to them and a jump-off time of 37.89 seconds.
Eugenie Angot (FRA) and Turquoise d’Ivraie (Quick Star x Cook du Midour) were consistent once again, earning bronze honors after a clean scorecard, being only three-hundredths of a second slower than the latter two.
