The third day of competition during the La Silla CSI 3* gave spectators a very interesting outcome. The feature class of the day, the MXN $500,000 Classic CSI 3* was a thriller right to the wire. Ninety-one combinations faced the challenging course designed by Leopoldo Palacios (VEN) and assisted by Guillherme Jorge (BRA).

Rodrigo Seone (ARG) and Unestar de La Nutria were the first ones to register two flawless performances, completing the jump-off course in 44.45 seconds.

The lead would soon be challenged by Eduardo Menezes (BRA) aboard H5 Balou’s Captain. The Olympic rider has been a consistent winner in major events while competing in Mexico, Spruce Meadows in Canada, the west coast in North America, the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, and even in Europe against the very best in the world.

He proved his maestry again, guiding the 9-year-old bay Oldenburg stallion (Baloubet du Rouet x Captain Paul) around the course, taking over the lead with a time of 43.16 seconds.

However the outcome hadn’t been settled yet, and in a twist of fate, destiny would give Carlos Hank Jr. a chance to overcome his equestrian coach. The young Mexican is trained by the Brazilian. The young rider overcame his master, showing much competence while riding H5 Quantador 3, a 10 year-old grey Westphalian gelding (Quinta Real x Cornet Obolensky), to victory in 42.79 seconds.
