Calgary, Alberta, Canada – October 22, 2018 – Keean White aboard Leilani jumped to victory in the $40,000 Willow Park Wines and Spirits Cup CSI 3* Welcome Speed as Royal West 2018 continues. White and Leilani jumped last night’s thirteen-jump course, designed by Werner Deeg in 59.14 seconds.

Rachel Cornacchia (CAN) was awarded second place with a time of 61 seconds flat on Koko Katinka. Third place was also claimed by White piloting For Freedom Z with a time of 61.97 seconds.

In tonight’s speed class, 38 horse-rider combinations took the course. “I thought the course was quite windey, a little difficult, it walked a little strange. Lots of weird angles and lines”, said White “You had to have a good plan, stick to it and see where the cards fell.”

Royal West 2018 continues into its second week of hunter and jumper competitions. There are many exciting classes to look forward to in week two including Thursday’s $40,000 CSI3* Grant Production Testing Services Cup, Friday’s $5,000 Calgary Saddlery Costume Speed Derby, $10,000 Spirit of the West Cup and $10,000 The Horse Store Costume 4-bar. The major highlight of the second week being Saturday’s $100,000 Truman Homes Cup CSI3* 1.45m followed by the Lionheart Foundation Denim & Diamonds Charity Gala.
